Infant Car Seats Reviews (0 to 18 months or up to 26 lbs.)

Before investing in a new infant car seat you should be aware of the differences in security the different car seats provide infants.

FDM (Federation of Danish Motorists) has released their yearly infant car seats reviews. There is definitely some surprises in-between. Some of the more well-known infant car seats end up way down the list.

Below are the results of this year’s best car seats tests and a small review of each car seat.

Infant car seats - weight up to 26 pounds (0 to 18 month)

  1. Cybex Aton 2
Mounting: Rear-facing. The best seat I this class. The chair offers good protection of the child's legs and has plenty of room for the child as well as comfortable seating position. The child's vision is limited. The cover is easy to remove and wash.

  2. Graco Junior Baby
Mounting: Rear-facing. Easy to fasten the child. The chair is stable in the car and offer children good head support. Good legroom, but with hard upholstery and a less comfortable seating position. Machine washable cover. The test also reveals findings of harmful substances.

  3. PEG Perego Primo Viaggio Trifix K
Mounting: Rear-facing. Light weight rear-facing car seat that generally achieves good results in the test. Easy to install with low risk of incorrect installation. Good support of the child's legs. The child also has a good view from the chair. The chair has a general good finish, although the cover is difficult to clean.

  4. HTS Besafe iZi Go
Mounting: Rear-facing. Easy to install and low risk of incorrect installation. Provides good support for the child's legs and generally have very good padding. Easy to remove and wash the seat covers.
  5. Babystyle Oyster
Very easy belt mounted rear-facing car seat to the smallest. Easy to install with low risk of incorrect installation, but can be difficult to get to stand properly on the car seat. Ample legroom, but hard upholstery. The chair's finish does not make the best impression, and the cover is difficult to clean.

  6. Casualplay Baby Zero Plus
Mounting: Rear-facing. Low weight car seat (4.1 kg) for the youngest children. The chair is stable on the car seat and generally performs well in security tests. The chair has here an advantage in collision tests. Low risk of incorrect installation and easy to understand installation instructions. Easy to fasten the child. Comfortable seating position of the child with good visibility, good legroom and good padding. Cover is easy to remove, but can only be washed by hand. Discovery of harmful substances pulls however, the overall result down.
  7. Prénatal  So Travel
Mounting: Rear-facing. Low weight car seat (4.2 kg) for the youngest children. Does not perform well in security tests. Small risk of installation errors. Easy to fasten the child. The chair is well padded and offer children good legroom and a good view. Comfortable seating position. Machine washable cover. The test reveals minor discoveries of harmful substances.

  8. Bébécar Eazymaxi EL
Mounting: Rear-facing. Car seat for younger children with average results in the test. The test highest discovery of harmful substances means, however, that the purchase is not recommended.

  9. Britax Hi-Way II
Mounting: Rear-facing. Light weight car seat for both small and larger children. Difficult to install with a high risk of installation errors. Hard to fasten the child. Very little leg room, uncomfortable sitting position and poor visibility. Cover is easy to remove and machine wash.

  10. PEG Perego Viaggio Convertible
Mounting: Both front-and rear-facing. The crash collision tests reveals major weaknesses, why buying of this seat is discouraged. Difficult to install and remove but with low risk of installation errors. The child's view from the chair is limited. The chair has a general good finish, and the cover is easy to remove and clean.
